How old do you think your favourite tree is?
Find a tape measure and then go outside and measure the circumference of your tree. Make sure to give it a hug while you are there! Next, use this tree age calculator or follow this formula to find out approximately how old your tree is.
Now that you know the age of your tree close your eyes and imagine your tree could see. What do you think the tree has seen over its lifetime? What has stayed the same? What has changed? What stories does your tree have to tell?
Write down your ideas in a journal. When you are ready, write a story or poem from the perspective of the tree.
