Neighbouring Rock

Updated: May 30, 2020

Let's think about and find your special place in your community. What does it mean to you? This task will get students moving in their neighbourhood to try and find 3 medium/large size rocks that resonate with them. Students will use their artistic skills to paint and colour the rock in any way they desire. Students will write a special message on the rock using only one word. Once they have completed designing and writing on all 3 rocks, they will go back out into the community and place their rocks in spots that are meaningful to them. This task will end with students reflecting on why they chose those 3 rocks and why they chose to place them in these specific locations in their neighbourhood (example: prior experiences, memories).
